Irish Channel to host charitable drive-thru event in light of St. Patrick Day Parade’s cancelation.
Unfortunately, the annual Irish Chnnel St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been canceled due to coronavirus. Luckily, organizers have announced two new ways people can still celebrate in New Orleans.
Both events will be in aid for St. Michael Special School. Founded in 1967, the school educates students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club annually fundraises for the school.
The first event announced by the club is the monthlong fundraisers at Parasol’s Bar & Restaurant in the Irish Channel, and The Holy Ground Irish Pub in Mid-City.

Any visitor who goes to one of the two bars and donates, will receive a free green beer in honor of St. Patrick and your charitable offer.
The second event is a drive-thru event at the school, which is located at 1522 Chippewa St. in New Orleans. The event takes place from 10am-1pm, and involves volunteers accepting cash, checks and credit card donations for the school, in a drive-thru like manner.
The organizers said that masks and social distancing will be required during the event.
