The New Orleans Bourbon Festival, Museum of the American Cocktail (MOTAC), and the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB) are excited to present the Year of American Whiskey – a monthly series of programs at SoFAB that delve into the history, stories, and culture represented by America’s most iconic spirit. Throughout the year, SoFAB will offer tastings, spirits education, and a connection with the people behind the whiskey brands you love.
To kick off the Program, SoFAB is hosting a “Parade Route Party” on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 11 AM – 5 PM. Just a stone’s throw from the St. Charles parade route, the museum will serve as parade headquarters for the day, offering respite when needed, as well as showcasing Redemption Rye Whiskey. Crafted by Master Blender, Dave Carpenter, Redemption Whiskey is inspired by pre-Prohibition recipes that bring forth truly distinctive ‘rye-forward’ notes.
Tickets are $20 per person and include all-day access to the Museum (11:00 to 5:00 p.m.); whiskey tasting from Redemption Rye, and all ticket purchasers are entered into a raffle for a Bayou St. Cake King Cake created by Chef Bronwen Wyatt. Additional snacks and cocktails are available for purchase at the Museum.
“Whiskey is one of America’s most iconic products. I’m excited to learn more about the spirit during 2022 and allow our visitors the ability to taste, experience, and learn about some of the best spirits and producers in the United States,” says Brent Rosen, President, and CEO of the Southern Food & Beverage Museum.
After Redemption visits SoFAB in February, there is a full year of activities to enjoy. The other distilleries featured at SoFAB this year will include:
March 23: Maker’s Mark
April 16: Still Austin
May 21: Old Forrester
June 18: Jack Daniels
July 16: Belle Meade and High West
August 20: Heaven Hill
September 17: Oak Eden and Seven Three Distillery
October 15: Wild Turkey and Russel’s Reserve
November 19: Penelope
December 17: Uncle Nearest
The monthly whiskey tastings are just part of the partnership between SoFAB and the New Orleans Bourbon Festival. “New Orleans Bourbon Festival wanted to provide year-round programming and partnering with SoFAB allows us to bring great whiskey events to our community, beyond our annual March festival, says Tracey Napolitano, founder of New Orleans Bourbon Festival.
