The historic coffee cart makes its triumphant return to New Orleans.
After months of anticipation, Morning Call has finally opened their new location at at Canal Boulevard and City Park Avenue. The coffee connoisseurs have been working on the new opening since January 2020, but their history goes back for over 150 years.
Morning Call got its start at New Orleans’s French Market 150 years ago, and has graced us with its presence with previous Metairie and City Park locations. We thought we had seen the last of their delicious cups of Joe in 2019, when they faced a lease battle with the city. Thankfully we were wrong, because they’re back and New Orleans is very happy about it. They’ve even brought back some of the old crew who worked before their last closure.
The new location was built with the nostalgia of their legacy in mind. There’s a ton of covered outdoor seating out front, which also boasts ceiling fans for those hot New Orleans summers. Of course, Morning Call’s iconic neon coffee cup sign is an icon in its own right [featured image: @davidnola, and superfans have been snapping pics on Instagram since it was put up in January.
