Traveling on a low budget? We’ve got you.
One of the things we love the most about New Orleans is that it doesn’t take a fortune to enjoy it. There are many options for you and your family to experience the Big Easy without spending a penny.
We’ll help you plan your trip. These are free things to do in New Orleans:
1. Listen to live street music
Head over to the French Quarter and enjoy the many street performers and their live music. The shows are totally free!
2. Window shop
Who doesn’t love to window shop? And NOLA has many antique shops that you can’t miss. We recommend walking along the shops on Royal Street or Magazine Street.
3. Watch the sunset from Louis Armstrong Park
Watch the sun go down from this beautiful NOLA park.
We’ve made a list of other amazing sunset spots, and you can read it here.
4. Walk around the Garden District
Stroll around the historic Garden District and take in the spectacular architecture.
5. Visit the Woldenberg Riverfront Park
Take your pup for a walk, enjoy live music, see the Holocaust Memorial and take in the great views of the Mississippi River.
6. Relax at the Singing Oak in City Park
This ancient oak located inside City Park has wind chimes hanging from its branches. Listen to its music and relax under its shade. Here’s everything you need to know about this attraction.
7. Visit a Cemetery
New Orleans is full of historic cemeteries where famous figures lie. Most of them are completely free to visit, and some companies offer free walking tours.
8. Fall in love with the Local Markets
Markets are the best way for you to immerse yourself into the culture of Louisiana. Visit the Frenchmen Art Market, the Crescent City Farmers Market, the Freret Market, or the Algiers Mini Mart Flea Market.
