Mardi Gras is New Orleans’ most important event of the year. Parades are full of colors, beads, and drinks. But have you ever wondered what happens to horses after years of participating in parades?
After many of them ended up homeless throughout the years, the Humane Society of Louisiana and Cascade Stables have partnered to make sure horses end up in a good home where they can have a good life even after the party is over.
This year, after four years in a row, they are working to save the lives of 17 horses. The Mardi Gras Horse Adoption program is focusing on finding these animals suitable homes through an online program.
“This has proven to be a lifesaver for 77 horses we have adopted since we started this program in 2017”, the HSLA director told KATC news not long ago.
Their Facebook page has listed some of the horses that are currently in adoption, with their characteristics and their adoption fee.
You can find more information about each horse and their applications on their social media page.
