Parade season has begun, and even though many thought Mardi Gras could be canceled again due to COVID-19 concerns, it seems like Mayor Cantrell is focused on making it move forward.
During Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s morning Kings’ Day new conference, she sliced a King’s Cake and said it was a sweet year because parades will not be canceled like last year.
“Without a doubt, we will have Mardi Gras in 2022”, she said.
Mardi Gras is scheduled to start on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, however, parade events have already started.
Government officials have also expanded the proof of vaccination requirements on restaurants a closed public spaces since last week to diminish COVID-19 cases and stimulate vaccinations on children and young adults.
The next parade will take place on Saturday, January 22, at 2:00 pm by the Mande Milkshakers. Their annual Made Kings Day Parade & Party invites you to dress up and participate as walkers, bike riders, golf carts, and vehicles. The Mande Milkshakers promote friendship, fitness, and philanthropy.
