Who else is ready for summer? This time of the year doesn’t only bring high temperatures, but also many events where tourists and locals in New Orleans come together to celebrate culture. There’s no better way to celebrate traditional Creole cuisine than at the annual French Market Creole Tomato Festival.
Held every June at the French Market, visitors can enjoy a full day of fun and food for free. The event features music, dancing, food drink, and family activities.
French Market Creole Tomato Festival 2022
This year, the event has been confirmed to take place on June 11 and 12, 2022. Visitors will be able to buy fresh and juicy Creole tomatoes, enjoy cooking demonstrations, buy traditional dishes at booths, sign up for family activities, or participate in a tomato eating contest.
Bloody-Mary lovers come together! Don’t forget to walk over to the Bloody Mary Market, where you’ll find vendors selling this drink in all the presentations you can imagine.
If you’re interested in being part of the contest, don’t forget to sign up each morning. The event takes place both days at noon and contestants are expected to eat three tomatoes without using their hands. There’s a special competition for children too.
