Music Festivals seem like a thing of the past, but nothing can get in the way of New Orleans and a good time!
Tune in to WWOZ April this month as they partner with the Archive of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation to bring you Jazz Festing In Place 2021. The festivities will begin on April 22, running on the weekends until May 2, honoring the traditional spring weekends of the festival!
The festival is a great way to have a festival from your own home, with many of us NOLA locals camping out for the incredible music. Classic live sets from New Orleans music legends past and present will be blaring from every neighborhood.
In addition to the music, the broadcast will include interview segments highlighting the food, crafts, and heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana. We will also be sharing recipes for some of your favorite Jazz Fest cuisine, and helping fans connect with favorite local festival food and craft vendors.
The best thing about it is that you don’t have to be in New Orleans to join in on the fun, as the festival will be available to listen to online. So if you’re missing the city, are away from home, or just adore New Orleans, then it’s time to celebrate the best of NOLA’s music from your backyard, your front porch or your air-conditioned living room.
You can deck out your home/yard/office in authentic Jazz Fest style by getting your very own sign from Jazz Fest sign artist Nan Parati. For a limited time, she is making her hand-written sign services available for the general public. Nan has been Jazz Fest’s sign writer since 1985.
Signs are $40 plus shipping. $5 of every sign will go to support the Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s Music Relief Fund and $5 will go to support WWOZ as they carry the New Orleans groove forward and out into the universe!
Nan encourages requests that’s “downright vulgar stuff, political stuff,” or anything to do with your love for New Orleans. Order yours today by emailing Nan@NanParati.com. She accepts payment via Venmo or PayPal and believes she can get them to you by the start of Jazz Festing In Place if you order by April 12. Although she is at the mercy of the postal service!
