With an endless amount of fillings available to your liking, nothing beats a taco. In New Orleans, you can find so many incredible restaurants and eateries serving up some of the tastiest tacos available.
With NOLA’s taco scene thriving, many chefs aim for authentic perfection. While others are stretching the dish’s definition with unique takes on the Mexican staple. Regardless, your tacos could be served up in small corner taqueria or an upscale restaurant. This is New Orleans!
Here are some of our favorite places to get your taco fix in New Orleans:
1. Paco’s Tacos
Where: Metairie
A small but impactful location, Paco’s Tacos will make your taste buds dance. You have to try their Ceviche Tostadas, served with jumbo shrimp, onions, cilantro, and tomatoes.
2. El Taco Loco
Where: East Carrolton
Stopping here on Taco Tuesday is a given, and their selection of beers is top-notch so make sure you have a designated driver planned.
3. Taqueria Chilangos
Where: Kenner
An easygoing, local joint offering Mexican standards such as tacos & nachos. Taco Tuesday’s at Chilango’s will make both your wallet and stomach very happy.
4. Catty Shack Tex-Mex
Where: Fairgrounds
There’s a great atmosphere at Catty Shack. Make sure you get the crispy fish for your soft taco, and beef for your crispy taco!
5. Rosalita’s Backyard Tacos
Where: Bywater
Even though you’re in someone’s backyard, it doesn’t get any cuter than Rosalia’s Backyard Tacos. Their margaritas are delicious, but the tacos are the real stars of the show.
6. Taqueria Corona
Where: Magazine St, Merairie, Harahan
With three locations across the city, this popular New Orleans chain has a reputation for their tasty tacos. Check out their fish tacos. Their an absolute must!
7. Galaxie
Where: St. Claude
Ideal for gluten free visitors, Galaxie is a great spot for tacos and drinks. Locals are loving their guacamole, but we think the grilled queso is heaven on earth. They have great outdoor seating available too.
8. Panchita’s
Where: East Carrolton
It doesn’t get more authentic that Panchita’s. A homey atmosphere and an array of traditional Mexican plates. What more could you want in a taco joint?
9. Artisan Bar And Cafe
Where: St. Claude
You can’t leave this place without trying their Beef Tacos, served with black angus eye of round julienned & braised with charred chilis & onions, then topped with chipotle aioli & cilantro-lime crema. It’s also a great place to catch some live music, or a drag show!
